The new Kunsthalle Mannheim building designed by gmp (architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners) was officially opened in June 2018 with 32,000 visitors. The interplay between the old and new buildings posed a particular challenge for all those involved: Aesthetics and functionality were to do full justice to the art scene.
Both aspects were also covered by the HAUFE acoustic lamella. The straightness of the slats fits perfectly into the image of the window bars. In addition, the acoustic lamella effectively reduces the reverberation time and thus ensures pleasant room acoustics in the foyer. Access panels allow smooth maintenance of the fixtures above the ceiling.
The ceiling height of up to 10 metres was a challenge when laying the slats. This problem was successfully solved with lifting platforms and scaffolding. The company Jäger Ausbau Zwickau was responsible for the entire interior finishing and the installation of the HAUFE ceiling. It was awarded the Rigips Trophy 2017/2018 as the winner in the dry construction category with the Kunsthalle Mannheim object.
